NUNEATON & BEDWORTH

Church End Brewery Walk Friday July 1

The annual walk is from the George and Dragon in Stoke Golding to Church End Brewery on Ridge Lane. People have joined in past years and most have enjoyed it. There were around 30 walkers last year. The group meets in the George at around 6pm for 6.15 departure. The Stoke Border Patrol is aware of the event and passport control will be suspended for the evening for anyone outside the village who is participating. The walk is around 9 miles and takes approx 3 hours. With the exception of a couple of short pulls, the walking is easy and shouldn’t present any problems for anyone who is relatively hale and hearty. There are opportunities for refreshment on the way. Most people usually stop at the Malt Shovel in Hartshill; a few also call in at the Oddfellows in Higham, and at the Anchor. We aim to arrive at the Brewery around 9.30pm where there will be an informal picnic for all participants. Transport back to Stoke Golding can be arranged for anyone who wants it. Cost including the picnic and transport is usually around £5 – just depends on how may people come along. If anyone would like to go they can contact Nick Robinson on moc.hsifasadam@nosniborkcin so that a place can be reserved. Nick would also like to know if transport back will be required.
