Annual Church End Brewery Walk

Friday 14 July 2017

Dear Member,

The annual midsummer brewery walk from the George and Dragon in Stoke Golding to the Church End Brewery at Ridge Lane has this year been scheduled for the evening of Friday, July 14. The event has proved very popular in the past and last year we had about 30 walkers making the trip. For those not familiar with the event, we meet in the George and Dragon no later than 6.00 for a 6.15 (ish) departure. The walk itself is around 9 miles across country and is generally flat with the exception of 2 short climbs around Hartshill. There is generally a short scheduled refreshment stop in Hartshill, although it is not unknown for some walkers to indulge at one or more of the other pubs en route. We aim to arrive at Ridge Lane while it is still light at around 9.30 to 9.45. The Brewery provide us with a number of reserved tables where we enjoy a few ales and an excellent picnic. We depart around closing time. Cost for the picnic is generally around £3-£4 a head, depending on numbers (and how much I buy). I am also able to arrange transport back to Stoke Golding by taxi for anyone who wants it, providing I know in advance of the day. We have had a good response from members in the past and all, I think, have enjoyed the evening. We are aiming to break the record for the number of walkers this summer so please do come along if you fancy it. If you would like to join us, then please contact me either at moc.hsifasadam@nosniborkcin , on my mobile 07925 547713, or my landline 01455 213017. I hope to see a few of you on the night. Regards Nick Robinson
